Variety of bank notes in different denominationsAs the name suggests, if you choose this fund you'll be investing in cash!

However, by investing in the Scheme's Cash Fund, you'd expect to get a better rate of return than if you just put the money in a typical savings account. This is because you get tax relief on your contributions, tax relief on any returns the fund makes AND you get extra contributions from HBOS.

Although the returns on a cash fund can go up or down in the shorter term, you would expect it to fluctuate less than, say, bond funds or equity funds.

However, as a long term investment, cash alone may not give you the sort of return you'd need to build up the pension you need to retire on.
